Goose barnacle
Goose barnacle – Close up
These guys were washed up at Porthallow, on the Lizard Peninsula. They are found in most Oceans, but live in deep water where they cling onto items flaoting in the sea, filtering goodness from it.
The name goose barnacles, came from the fact that people thought Barnacle Geese hatched forom these shells.
From a photography aspect, they make an interesting photgraph. Thier colours, white and red brown make for somthing a little different. As well as not being seen very often, all in all they are a great study and intesesting subject.
