Porth Curnow

The Cove of Porthcurnow offers a whole host of photographic  opportunities. The location is well known for the Minack Theatre and Porthcurnow became internationally famous as the British termination of early submarine telegraph cables, the first of which was landed in 1870.

The area lends it’s self to the budding photographer. There are dramatic cliff panoramas to capture, interesting historical areas and the beauty of the Minack, surrounded by stone with its impressive sea scape, back drop.

Caused by the pale sand sea bed. The water in this part of Cornwall is a turquoise / aqua marine. Combined with a nice swell, sea shots look like they have come from abroad.

Trying photographs at different states of tide and light will give you the best chance of capturing somthing unique. The harsh midday sun, even in winter wil flattern objects, removing fine detail and texture.  A nice low sun will give different hues to the rocks and the sea due to the way the sunlight gets filtered through more of the earths atmosphere.
