Levey is pumping

That’s what I heard! I had no car and had to wait for while to get use of one. I wanted to get some Cornwall photography surf shots, but things were against me. You get some great images from this location. Here are some Porthleven surf competition photographs from November 09.

Anyway, after a few hours I was able to get in the car, camera, lenses, memory cards,  cleaning cloth and a drink. Oh, need fuel……

Well I arrived, and Porthleven was looking good. The best of the swell had passed in the morning, yet it was still working well. Great sets pushing through and lots of surfers to photograph.

I headed to some rocks to get as close as possible to the surfing, keeping one eye on the surge around the rocks and started to shoot. There were lots of other photographers at the cliff top, enjoying their craft.

Light was not great to start with. Plenty to capture the action, but it made the scene very flat. The low light was not really an issue for me, I had already made my mind up that I wanted some slow shutter speed images, trying to add more dimension into my photographs. Keeping the surfer as sharp as possible was the challenge, yet having motion in the wave. I caught a few nice ones.

This is were digital-media works best, you can fire off lots of photo’s until you get the one you are happiest with! (there is always room for improvement).
